About Golf College
Golf College was established in 1995 and was the first Golf College in New Zealand that offered NZQA registered qualifications.
Golf College is part of the Business College Education Group.
Our programmes and teaching resources are continually being updated and we believe we have the best Golf Programmes in New Zealand.
Unlike many programmes Golf College programs are 70% practical skills which will improve your game and 30 % theory.
The course runs for 5 hours per day, 4 days per week.
Three days per week the students practice at the driving range with Putting, Pitching and Chipping greens in a short game area. Once a week the students play on one of Auckland’s many stunning park like golf courses.
Various golf courses will be played throughout the year, which may include Akarana, Chamberlain Park, Formosa, The Grange, Gulf Harbour, Helensville, Howick, Manukau, Maungakiekie, Murawai, Omaha,Peninsular, Pukekohe, Pupuke, Redwood Park, Remuera, South Head, Titirangi, Waipu, Whangaparoa and Whitford Park.
Students with no golf experience have in 6 months increased their golf handicap to under 18 enabling them to enter our Diploma in Golf programme.
Golf College has a number of programmes that meet different needs you may want to be a professional golfer and we can provide you with the coaching and experience to improve your game and compete in tournaments or you may want to become a Golf Coach and the Diploma in Golf will provide you with coaching skills or you may want to improve your golf so you can just enjoy the game of golf and our Certificate programmes enable you to achieve this learning goal.
Golf College students needs differ and our different programmes meet these different needs:

- Certificate in Golf Level 1
- Certificate in Golf Level 2
- Diploma in Golf Level 5
Golf College offers many short courses, non NZQA registered under 12 weeks, enquire for the current time table.
Students study golf theory as well as practical sessions. We offer different kinds of golf courses including a Certificate in Golf, a Diploma in Golf. Business College also offers a Certificate in English & Golf.
DIPLOMA IN GOLF ( LEVEL 5 )
This Diploma in Golf is for students who want to develop both their practical and academic golf skills within a short period of time and become an amateur or use it as a pathway to becoming a professional golfer.
Structure of the Course
The Diploma in Golf(Level 5) has three major components:

Students must be aged 16 or over.
Possess the appropriate immigration and insurance documentation.
Have a handicap of 18 or lower and be able to show evidence that you have General IELTS 5.5 across all bands or equivalent.
The Golf diploma covers all the content of the year one and two courses as listed above and also covers personal and business management, practical and theoretical coaching of golf, practical advanced golf skills and advanced theory of golf.
Please note there is a significant amount of theory assignments in this diploma and students must complete all assignments included in the course.
This diploma will enable you to reach a six to zero handicap in golf.You will be required to successfully pass 80% of the elements listed below and attend at least 90% of the practical and theory sessions to pass the course. This course is a NZQA approved Level Five Diploma.
CERTIFICATE IN GOLF
Stage One Certificate
Stage One Certificate is for students who want to develop both their practical and academic golf skills within a short period of time and become an amateur or use it as a pathway to becoming a professional golfer. This certificate will enable you to reach eighteen to ten handicap skill of golf by the end of the year.
Upon successful completion of this course you can enrol in the Golf Certificate Stage Two or the second of a three year Golf Diploma.
Practical golf skills and general knowledge about golf will be taught and you will be required to successfully pass 80% of the elements listed below and attend at least 90% of the practical and theory sessions to pass the course. This course is a NZQA approved Level One Certificate.
Stage Two Certificate
Stage Two Certificate is for students who have completed Stage One Certificate or who can demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge. The course builds on the Stage One programme and covers practical putting with a focus on the short game and moves you through higher level skills such as the science of the golf swing, history of golf and management. You will also learn how to repair your golf equipment and how to design and maintain a golf course. This certificate will enable you to reach a fifteen to five handicap skill of golf throughout the year.
This course is compulsory if you want to go onto complete the three year Diploma or can be taken as a standalone option if you can show competence for the stage one programme’s contents. You will be required to successfully pass 80% of the elements listed below and attend 90% of the practical and theory sessions to pass the course. This course is a NZQA approved Level Two Certificate.
For entry onto these programmes you must be aged 16 or over, possess the appropriate immigration and insurance documentation, and be able to show evidence that you have General IELTS 4.0 or equivalent.
CERTIFICATE IN ENGLISH AND GOLF
Three days of golf and two days of English study
36 week course
Aims of the course
To provide students with the opportunity to develop their communicative abilities in English and to provide students with the ability to develop their skill in playing golf.
Entry to the College’s English and Golf Course is open to international students who meet the following entry criteria
- Possess the appropriate immigration documentation.
- Entry to the levels will be determined by an entry test.
- Must have own golfing equipment.
- Must show an interest in learning and improving golf skills.
- Must have an interest in learning and improving English language skills.
- Prospective students must have
reached a minimum age of 16 prior to the commencement of the course before they are eligible to enrol.
Golf Short Courses
A variety of short courses are available that can be tailored to individual needs ranging from 2 days to 12 weeks. These are local courses and cater to small groups of people wanting to improve their golfing expertise and experience a variety of New Zealand Golf courses. Please request more information if you are interested in one of these courses. Please note that while many of the learning outcomes are the same, these courses are not NZQA approved courses.
